HTC HTC Advantage X7501

The HTC Advantage X7501 is a smart phone trapped inside a tiny laptop's body. It has the inner workings of a handset-with features such as 3G, Wi-Fi, and Windows Mobile 6--and the shell of an Ultra-Mobile PC, similar to that of OQO's Model 02. In...

Plenty of included software ; Innovative design

Keyboard is hard to use ; Phone component doesn't always work well

A great display doesn't make up for an awkward phone and poor keyboard.

HTC Advantage review

The biggest smartphone ever seen?

Wi-Fi connectivity and 3G ; Smartphone with detachable typewriter keyboard ; 3 megapixel camera with autofocus

Huge size ; Not easy to use as a phone ; Not easy to use as a camera

As a lightweight computing alternative it's an intriguing prospect, but it's perhaps too much of a departure from the form factor of a phone to be a serious contender as a smartphone

HTC Advantage

Poised somewhere between smartphones and UMPCs, HTC's unlocked Advantage is too compromised to excel.

Robust TeleNav GPS with comprehensive voice prompts. Stunning, bright screen. Includes basic document editing and robust keyboard. Built-in HSDPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth—you name it, it's in there.

Too large to be a primary mobile phone. Can make or receive calls only with headset or speakerphone. Occasional OS glitches. System performance is sluggish, even with fastest available processor. A shockingly high price.

Review: HTC Advantage X7501

On paper, the pocket-slate HTC Advantage literally has everything: A big, five-inch screen, integrated Wi-Fi and 3G radios, stereo Bluetooth, GPS, 3-megapixel camera, and a...

A true convergence device that can take on almost any mobile app. LED camera flash. 8GB Microdrive and miniSD slot included. Clever keyboard attachment, which also works to magnetically cover the screen. 12 long hours of talk time (for what it’s...

Slow camera produces average quality shots. No WPA for Wi-Fi limits surfing options. Low-res screen. Makes the iPhone look like a bargain. Integrated GPS costs per month

HTC Advantage X7501 review

The HTC Advantage X7501 is a hybrid mobile phone and PDA device whose great display doesn't make up for an awkward phone and poor keyboard.

All things considered, the HTC Advantage X7501 is a full-featured PDA with an awkward phone and a poorly designed keyboard. Sure, you get a choice of wireless carriers to use and no obligation to a contract, but this also means that you don't get the...

HTC Athena Advantage - X7501 (Unlocked) review: HTC Athena Advantage - X7501 (Unlocked)

HTC Athena Advantage - X7501 (Unlocked)

The HTC Advantage X7501 features a large, gorgeous display and offers integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, and GPS. The Windows Mobile 6 mobile computer offers document viewing and editing, push e-mail, and Web browsing. It's also equipped with a...

The Advantage is bulky and heavy, and the keyboard is cramped. The design makes it hard to use as a phone, and even then, the speakerphone is on the weaker side.

The HTC Advantage X7501 is a powerful mobile computer for on-the-go professionals, delivering a full feature set and speedy performance. However, it will probably only appeal to early adopters and gadget hounds.

HTC Advantage Review: Fast and Free Screen Replacement for HTC One M8

The new HTC Advantage program is a great enhancement to the new HTC One M8 that offers a free screen replacement, 50GB of free Google Drive storage and a promise of quick Android updates. I've already had the misfortune of cracking my HTC One M8's...

While HTC Advantage isn’t as good as AppleCare+ when it comes to protecting the HTC One M8 from hazards, its $0 price point sure makes it attractive.

Working With An Advantage - The HTC Advantage 7510 That Is

The 7510 is HTC's third version of the Advantage product line, which it bills as a Mobile Office, rather than a PDA or Pocket Phone. Originally introduced in 2007, it targets mobile professionals who want to keep in touch with the office, email, etc....

Beautiful, huge VGA screen ; Huge (16Gb) flash drive included ; Reasonable battery life (compared to a laptop) ; Full accessory pack

Interface really doesn't make good use of VGA real estate ; Phone really isn't integrated with the rest of the package ; Keyboard has limited tactile feedback ; Card (SIM and mini-SD) slot is very difficult to access

HTC Advantage Review

The Advantage X7501 is sometimes referred to as the X7500, or as the HTC Athena. It's also sold by T-Mobile Europe as the T-Mobile Ameo, and under the Dopod brand as the U1000

Expansive memory ; Large VGA screen ; Video output ; Internal GPS ; Extensive connectivity

Astronomical price tag ; Poor keyboard ; Calls only though headset or speaker

But if you are going to drop the cash for the Advantage, take this advice: wait a little while, and grab the X7510. Ditching the risks of the 8 GB Microdrive for 16 GB of flash is worth it

HTC Advantage X7501 PDA phone

A full-featured PDA with an awkward phone and a poorly designed keyboard. At around £550, the HTC Advantage X7501 costs more than many other PDA phones - indeed, as much as some basic notebook PCs, and more than some basic desktops with a monitor....
