Anyone in the market for a $300 smartphone should shortlist the OnePlus Nord N30 5G. It packs a fantastic camera, solid real-world performance, and a nice, bright display.

Two-day battery life. Good performance. Nice 120-Hz screen. Loud stereo speakers. Includes a headphone jack, microSD slot, and NFC for contactless payments. Speedy charging. Works on all major US carriers. Three years of security updates.

Cameras don't impress. Will get only one OS update. Screen downgrade from its predecessor. Weak haptics.

That said, if the Pixel 6A isn’t quite within reach or T-Mobile is offering you a free N30, I think it’s a fine option. It’s a lot of phone for the money — even if it’s not quite everything it could be.
