MacBook Air 13in (Late 2010)

Thinner, better battery life and better value. What's not to like?

needed and otherwise not messed with a successful formula.

MacBook Air review (late 2010)

The MacBook Air has never exactly been a simple product to review. Since the laptop's launch back in the heady days of 2008, we've always considered it a nic...

Apple MacBook Air Fall 2010 review: Apple MacBook Air Fall 2010

Apple MacBook Air Fall 2010

Apple's ; is thin and powerful enough to use as a mainstream laptop. It has an excellent battery and includes an SD card slot.

The Air has limited connections compared with other 13-inch laptops, and its keyboard isn't backlit. It's outclassed by the new MacBook Pro line.

The second generation of Apple's MacBook Air fixes many of our issues with the ambitious original, adding more USB ports, an SD card slot, and a more powerful processor.

Apple MacBook Air 13-inch

The SD slot, extra USB, and a staggering increase in battery life make the Apple MacBook Air 13-inch a strong contender in the ultraportable space.

An SD slot and extra USB port fill an important void. Stunningly beautiful design. Bigger battery resulted in almost twice as much battery life as its predecessor. Higher resolution increases the value of the 13-inch screen. Best clickpad...

Pricey. Starting memory configuration only 2GB rather than 4GB. Intel Core 2 Duo processor based on two-year-old technology

Apple's 2010 MacBook Air (11 & 13 inch) Thoroughly Reviewed

Last week Apple introduced its first significant upgrade to the MacBook Air since it was introduced two years ago. The announcement was met with the arrival of a new form factor for Apple: the 11.6-inch MacBook Air starting at just $999. The 13.3-inch...

I really like the form factor of the 11-inch MacBook Air. It's great to carry around. It's like an iPad for people who have to get real work done. I just wish it was faster. If Intel made a 32nm Core 2 Duo, clocked high enough the 11 would be perfect....

Apple MacBook Air (2010)

It's beautiful, it's stunning, it's thin, it's like a supermodel. That is probably the best way to describe the MacBook Air to anyone asking. But should you be buying the thinnest MacBook on the planet? We've been living with the new model to find out....

Fast, thin, light

No optical drive, no Ethernet connection

On the surface the MacBook Air looks like an expensive option compared to Apple's MacBook Pro that you get off the shelf. In fact, at a quick glance the difference is over £500, but to be fair, the off the shelf MacBook Pro doesn't come with the flash...

Apple MacBook Air (13-inch, April 2014) review: Latest MacBook Air is faster, runs longer, costs less

The 13-inch MacBook Air gets a minor CPU upgrade and $100 price cut, keeping it near the top of our recommended laptop list.

While minor, the small upgrade to the stock CPU in Apple's 13-inch MacBook Air results in improved performance. The multitouch trackpad is still the industry's best, and even better, the 13-inch Air now starts at $999, which is $100 less than the...

Newer features such as touchscreens and higher-resolution displays are still missing. The ultrabook competition is catching up, in terms of design.

If you own a MacBook Air from the past couple of years there's really no need to upgrade, but a small spec bump and minor price cut make the most-current Air even more attractive.

Apple MacBook Air 13 (mid-2012)

The new 13-inch MacBook Air might not be the huge revision we were hoping for, but it's still an excellent laptop, borne out of years of refinement.

Great build quality. USB 3.0 makes for a good boost. Industry-leading touch pad. Backlit keyboard. Dual-band Wi-Fi.

Base model storage a bit small for the current day.

Apple MacBook Air 13 (2011)

Fast performance. Quick boot. Excellent battery life. Thunderbolt capable. Backlit keyboard.

Design hasn't evolved much. Still low in the storage stakes. Parts of the base get warm. Lacks ports common in other laptops. Thunderbolt isn't much use — yet.

Apple's upgraded MacBook Air is a seriously fast performer — even if you only use it as a Windows machine. The switch to Sandy Bridge puts Apple's travel laptop on the top of the portable pile.

Apple MacBook Air 13-inch Summer 2011 review: Apple MacBook Air 13-inch Summer 2011

Apple MacBook Air 13-inch Summer 2011

The ; has been updated with the latest Intel CPUs for better performance and battery life. Backlit keyboards make a welcome return.

The 128GB SSD drive is a lot smaller than a standard hard drive. This also starts at $100 more than the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

The latest version of the 13-inch MacBook Air vastly outperforms its predecessor, and can finally be called suitable for mainstream use, instead of relegated as a niche product.
