Plustek OpticFilm 7200

If you have lots of slides and 35-mm negatives to digitize, the Plustek OpticFilm 7200 probably sounds like the scanner you've been waiting for. This low-cost film scanner ($199 direct) claims a resolution of 7,200 pixels per inch (ppi), theoretically...

Scans slides and negatives. Comes with SilverFast, a high-end, but easy-to-use, scan program. Includes a one-slide-size light box on top

Requires manual positioning of the film or slide. Scans one slide or photo at a time. Scan quality is mixed

The Plustek OpticFilm 7200 claims a 7,200-pixels-per-inch (ppi) optical resolution, but it doesn't truly deliver. High-resolution scans are marred by artifacts similar to pixelization. And the overall quality and acceptability of each scan depends on...

The Plustek OpticFilm 7200i 35mm Film Scanner; An Affordable, High-Resolution Scanner

Some believe film is dead, but I get as many e-mails from photographers as ever asking about film scanning.

Plustek OpticFilm 7200i Scanner

Amateur photographers and enthusiasts rejoice. All those negatives and slides need no longer sit in the dark like mushrooms. Bring them out, start scanning, and who knows what gems you'll discover and what memories will come to life. The Plustek...

Easy to set up and use. Small footprint. SilverFast Ai software and built-in dust & scratch removal is good. High optical resolution and good detail. Surprisingly low price. For the amateur photographer who wants easy access to their family memories or...

Dynamic Range is not quite as good as needed for professional work. Refinement needed in film profiles and format support. Slow scanning in high resolution. iSRD makes it crawl. Windows only. For the professional who has a requirement for a scanner...

Review: Plustek OpticFilm 7200 Scanner

Flatbed scanners are great for scanning pictures, sheet fed scanners are great for scanning documents and film scanners are great for scanning negatives. Plustek is hoping the OpticFilm 7200 is great for scanning negatives and slides.

Plustek OpticFilm 7200i

Plustek OpticFilm 7200iA fotós társadalom egy nagy része, az a bizonyos alkotó amatõr réteg, amelyik nem ma, a digitális korszakban kezdte tevékenységét, bizony megörül, ha a kínálatban talál egy kevésbé ismert készüléket, amellyel régi filmjeit akár...

Impressive results!

I have been obsessive about image quality since the days when I would use a grain magnifier to focus my darkroom enlarger. I am completely satisfied with the results scanning b&w negatives from the 1950's, a glass enclosed slide from 1941, and many...

Plustek OptiFilm 8200i

The scanner is USB 2.0. I'm not sure if it would help to have USB 3.0. I think the majority of the time it takes to do a scan is the movement of the scan head and post processing of the image. The transfer speed may not take up a large portion of the...

Hardware seems very capable. On 7200dpi scans you can see film grain sharply resolved. Great value as scanner comes bundled with Silverfast Ai.

Installation procedure is confusing. Don't be surprised if you get a bunch of error messages. You can ignore/cancel most of them and keep going. You do not need to install the Presto! PageManager program. I have used both Silverfast and Vuescan with...

Nice Scanner and Software Package

Plustek does pretty decent resolution and the added plus of IR scanning for scratches and dirt. Silverfast software is fast and does a pretty decent job of controlling scanning, scratch and dust removal.

Silverfast driver installation a bit wonky. If you are using 64 bit Windows, make sure you have 64 bit drivers for the Plustek. Color correction is not always what you see is what you get.

poor software support and documentation

hardware seems to be working

lasersoft's documentation is for the birds Confusing instructions and take days to get a reply. Support tells you to go to the website FAQ and look for the answer yourself. I have been trying to figure out how to use the IT8 calibration. Plustek...
